Susan Powell (b. 1986) holds a Bachelor of Music in Church Music from St. Olaf College, where she studied organ with Dr. John Ferguson. She is currently doing graduate studies in organ, choral conducting, and composition at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.

As a composer, she is passionate about writing artistically robust works accessible to amateur and developing musicians. As a church musician, she has an interest in theology, liturgy, and hymnology. A broad range of experience across denominations and worship traditions informs her ecumenical perspective.

She currently serves as the Precentor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. She lives in Bloomington, Indiana with her husband Mike and their three young children, Jacob, Meredith, and Joshua.
